Idemnominal

Idemnominal. That's the word I came up with in the summer of 2005, when I apparently forgot that a perfectly good word homonymous already exists. Idemnominal does not exist. I checked. Google turns up exactly zero results. Homonymous is Greek. My new word has Latin roots: an educated person will know what "idemnominal" means.

What's interesting is how I came up with the word -- I simply did a literal translation from the Russian word of the same meaning: одноименный ("фильм поставлен по одноименной пьесе и т.д.").

Sample use: The movie For Whom the Bell Tolls is based on the idemnominal novel by Ernest Hemingway.

I will use this word whenever I can and hopefully it will enter dictionaries some day...
